annie duke gifts her stack to kristy gazes in a sit and go

Annie Duke donks about in Sit and Go with Kristy gazes

Here is a great example of how irking an opponent who has just lost a pot and is playing on the aggressive side can get them to commit their stack way behind.  And these are two professional players, so don't think it can happen to you.

Annie Duke has just lost a hand, and the tournament has not been going particularly well for her.  All of the players are tough to play against.  There is no doubt about it. There are five players left in this sit and go format tournament including Annie Duke, Kristy Gazes, Vanessa Ruosso, Gabe Kaplan, and Howard Lederer. From early position any Duke looks at her 87 offsuit and decides to raise $1700. However Kristy gazes next act looks at her pocket aces and normally this would be a re-raised situation but sensing any Duke's frustration thinks that by slow calling here, she may be able to get Duke's full stack without too much risk.

Annie Duke's investment is still small enough in this pot to get away from as as she still has more than $14,000 in chips left in her stack.

I feel that his excellent thinking on Kristy gazes part because if she reraise is here everyone including you do is going to fold.  She has her she has her eyes set on Duke's stack and knows Duke is prone to error because of several recent lost hands and lost chips.  This is one of those situations where pocket aces should be slow played.

As Kaplan and Lederer decide to fold, the two women are left to battle for the $4300 pot.  Definitely a pot small enough at this stage to get away from. About the worst of all flop for Annie Duke is top pair top kicker with 274 showing on the flop and Kristy gazes licking their chops.

Any Duke really does what she should hear as first act and that's out approximately how pot with $2300 making the pot $6,600.  Now Kristy gazes could call here and hope for Duke to bet on the turn.  But I find that move gives opportunity to weaker players to think longer about their hand and to rightfully suspect that they maybe getting trapped. Given Annie Duke's current state of mind, I would certainly re-raised here and make it look like you were trying to bully any Duke off a hand were the flop would've likely not helped her at all.

That is what Kristy gazes does in fact do by re-raising  $5,000 in chips making the total pot now $11,600.  You see a move like this irks an aggressive opponent.  You have invoked their natural instinct in the feeling that they are getting pushed around too much simply because they have lost a few hands recently.  It's best, as Kristy gazes does here to make yourself look like you are trying to steal something from your opponent who is reeling.

Annie Duke's investment is still small enough in this pot to get away from as as she still has more than $14,000 in chips left in her stack.  Plenty enough to wait for a better spot than this.  Kristy gazes instantly calls the pot creating a massive $43,100 pot in which Kristy gazes eliminates any Duke.

The extent of which Duke made in the air here is exemplified by her comments to Kristy and Shauna Hiett afterwards.  She thought that Kristy may have had a hand like pocket eights, and that she could get her off of the hand.  Players on tilt tend to be over aggressive, and I think Kristy would have called her with pocket eights easily.  Even the pros get tilted and make big errors, this video is proof, and you can see the look on brother Howard Lederer's face as to how bad Annie Duke played that had.
