Jennifer Tilly makes a value bet error at Full Tilt sit and go tournament.
One of the earlier Full Tilt Poker After Dark episodes that featured the lovely Jennifer Tilly seated amonsgt some of the best players in the game. Tilly actually wins this hand, but not without error, where she might have likely got a value bet out of Anotinius, especially the way she had worked her image up to that point. Here is how the stacks started the hand:
Phil Ivey $25,000
Jennifer Tilly $20,000
Jennifer Harman $23,000
Erick Lindgren $22,000
Phil Gordon $17,000
Patrick Antonius $13,000
The blinds are $200 and $400 and Patrick Antonius is the small blind Jennifer Harman is the big blind. Phil Gordon who is under the gun folds Queen three opposite, Phil Ivey and Erick Lindgren do the same with the four to and 52 respectively. Then Jennifer Tilly, who is on the button holding Jack Jack conveniently makes it look like a steel and raises to $1200 making the pot $1800. Patrick Antonius contemplates his 10 eight suited and makes a loose call here out of position, while Jennifer Harman throws away four deuce suited even though she was getting nearly 3 to one pot odds. The pot is now $2800.
A draw heavy flop comes and it hits both of thier hands with 10 J 7 giving Patrick Antonius middle pair, and a gut shot straight draw, but he has no idea that Jennifer Tilly has just flopped a set of Jack's. Patrick probably thinks he's ahead here but being out of position checks to Jennifer.
Jennifer Tilly bets $2000 making the pot $4800 which is a big enough that to give Patrick Antonius some concern that he may be behind here. Hence, he decides to just call and makes the pot $6,800. The turn card brings a king which may duly concern each player that the other is holding Ace Queen or Queen nine.
Still though Patrick's check is the right play, but Jennifer should definitely value bet here to at least help determine if Patrick is still on a draw, instead she checks as well.
So the pot remains $6,800 and another king shows up on the river. That is actually a good card for Jennifer Tilly as in the case that Patrick had hit a straight on the turn, she now has them beat with a full house. But Patrick again chooses to check and virtually at the same time Jennifer Tilly checks as well. Clearly Jennifer Tilly made an error with this check. First of all she didn't think long enough, and secondly didn't take advantage of the value betting situation here that could have likely earned her more of Patrick‘s stack in this pot.
The only way Patrick does not call a small bet here is if he had something like Q8 or 86, and was hoping for a gunshot. Most other hands as he would have after calling this flop would very likely receive a call on the river from Jennifer's value. If Patrick has a 10, 7 or at Jack he is going call.
Jennifer Tilly explains immediately after the hand that she saw Patrick had pocket kings, which would have given him quads on the river. Simply, the way the hand was played out Jennifer's assumption was ludicrous and as it turns out - an amateurish thought process. The resultant expressions showing up on the faces of Erick Lindgren, Phil Ivey, and Jennifer Harman confirm Jennifer Tilly's missed opportunity here.
