You might have expereinced this a few times already and it can be frustrating. But playing card dead in sit and go poker tournbaments can also improve your PUSH game, because that is exaclty what you will have to do. And the sooner you do it the better, rather than waiting for being ornage MZoned.
All right so you are playing a sit and go tournament and haven't got any hands to play in the early stages, so you keep playing patient like here where you fold 5-9 off suit, even though you know the player who raised you is an aggressive player. Still its an easy fold. Just be patient, your cards will come.
Another aggressive player raises when you have a decent hand of Jack Ten suited, but since you are in early position, this too is a good fold.
Well if this keeps up your stack is going to be so small that you will be forced to play very weak hands against bigger stacks. That is NOT how you win sit and go tournaments. You really have to be looking to make some moves when you are at 10 big blinds or higher. But what moves can you make when you are card dead in sit and go poker tournaments.
If you are playing tight in the early rounds, don’t wait to the later rounds to get aggressive. Use the middle stage to take advantage of your tight profile at the table. You can also look to target opponents that are tighter than you, by betting into them.
You have two tight players who limped in ahead of you, making the pot here 350 before it comes to you. You have approximately 10 big blinds left, but you really need that 350 now, and re-raising all in here with a weak hand is a better move than it first appears. You have a tight image still, and limper are not apt to call such a big bet with the kind of hands they probably limped with. If you do get called, there is a decent chance you have live cards anyway and could pull off an underdog win. At this stage you have to be looking for more risking plays in order to get more chips, because this kind of play stands a better chance of a big Sng win that if you just keep folding.
The payout structure can be used to your advantage as well where medium stacks stand the most to lose by getting involved in risky situations. They are looking good to make the money, and are more reluctant to give that up, even if they th ink you are playing with weak cards.
Here you have TWO medium stacks in the blinds and you shove with this weak hand in an attempt to steal the blinds of 300. Those stacks are less likely to call you than a small or big stack because there is more risk for them to make bad call. Therefore even with decent hands, it is a mathematical mistake for them to call your push here. Hope that helps you with being more aggressive in sit and go tournaments and keeping an eye open for more daring steal opportunities like these were.
